Scenes From A Memory

Creating a blog had conceptualized my imaginative thoughts towards a broadened perspective, to oppose today’s world masquerade in the different global stage of psychological strike.

The process of creating a blog reprimands me of how sophisticated is the Internet, that later could change human into ‘battery’.

This is the process where my skills of communicating, my creativity attack and the performance of my thinking machine are put into test. Apart from exhaustion and deprivation, the passion that I have discovered is much more enlightening and refreshing, thus it unleashes my weaknesses and strengths in parallel nick of time.

My words are literally positive and legal, and careful steps have been taken to assure that no such things as illegal citations were used. The design of the blog is important to be nice, smooth and simple to ‘keep my customers return’.

Bloggers of Malaysia should always aware of morale and culture sensitivity; needless to mention that the pen is mightier than the sword; Malaysia is a developing country in the throes of globalization, empowered by multiracial citizens with harmony and the love of peace.

When creativity meets technology: Maya 2009 : :

Living in the era of digital world encourages people to think out of the box, whereby in each individual perspectives and traits lies the desire to step forward, to create self-salience, to expose themselves vividly, since the freedom of speech has given great opportunity to reach out, to be heard and to share ideas.

Pushing the limits, media and cyberspace are now merging, thus putting the human creativity and technology combination onto the next level. Based on the article “Making it easier to be creative” posted by The Star Online on November 4, 2008, Autodesk has released a series of new updates for its media and entertainment software solutions in Maya 2009, MotionBuilder 2009 and Mudbox 2009.

These creative, powerful graphic software engines enable developers and animators to focus on developing their creations further rather than being bogged down by technical aspects of the processes. Sculpting digitally Mudbox 2009 gives 3D modellers and texture artists more freedom to create.

A new, production-focused texture paint workflow in this software version simplifies the process of painting multiple diffuse, bump, specular, and reflection textures across multiple high-resolution maps.

These new updates drive us the change from highly technical to more creative processes, which allow artists to freely experiment and better express themselves in the digital world. Producing a piece of arts will never be this easier, modern and complex.

Today, we can amaze the world with using only our imagination, creativity and technology, by given the ultimate space of the cyber world, a systematic chaos of digital home beyond human’s glass prison of thoughts.

Welcome to the Borderless World

Internet: File sharing & copyright infringement : :

Source: Sky.com 2007

Nowadays people tend to look for easier way, in many aspects and routine of their life. Some might prefer an effortless ‘one-click’ work, and some might be comfortable about their struggles within. “Easy way, or the highway?” a question that would have almost the same answer, which considerably reflects the beholder’s inner side.

Looking aside, it is not a question that leaves a person in hesitation about his or her consciousness towards the role; instead, it offers choices of chances for the person to make a difference in future.

Beneath every risk lies an opportunity. Based on the article “Q&A: Music and file sharing” posted by BBC News: Technology on July 24, 2008, emphasized about file sharing via network through the Internet, which under certain conditions it becomes illegal and the person who involved might face law charges.

The article stated that the growth of file sharing has cut the profits and is ruining the music industry, by which lacking legitimate places to turn to find music had caused online fans migrated to file-sharing networks to get hold of pirated tracks.

According to Wikipedia 2008, file sharing refers to the providing and receiving of digital files over a network, usually following the peer-to-peer (P2P) model, where the files are stored on and served by personal computers of the users. Most people who engage in file sharing on the Internet both provide (upload) files and receive files.

As the degree of seriousness of this matter is increasing, recently Lars Ulrich (picture) of Metallica, a legendary American thrash metal band stood up in contrast. He opines that the exposure and the extreme use of file sharing over pirated music tracks among Metallica fans had taught him the intrinsic value of freedom, after he discovered numerous tribute videos posted by the fans in various Vlogs.

As I view this situation introspectively, the issue of illegal file sharing and copyright infringement over the Internet has opened people’s third eye about a change; freedom in changes.

In digital world, people possess the autonomy of speech, freedom to reach out on the surface with such style and creativity. As media enters the ‘borderless world’, they should concur with the risks and repercussions that yet to come, and start formulizing solution.

The Human-Internet relationship : :

Source: Blogsmithmedia/downloadsquad.com 2007

The Internet opens the path for everyone in this world the opportunity to explore, discover, learn, share, making money and to be famous, depends on one’s distinguished methodologies and presentations.

Not to exclude the role of one’s identity, the uniqueness is when you are capable to reach out with such crucial and breakthrough facts and idea that vitalise power to refurbish the ambiance. Conventional print versus online resources; a battle of today’s heritage for tomorrow’s civilisation.

As ‘opportunity’ and ‘chance’ is discussed, somehow the result is always close and steep, but gradient in effect. Nourished by delay, the Internet is now considered as a necessity, or perhaps the digital ‘world trade centre’. People do connect for the same purpose, but with different reason.

Within the interactive space, anything that unthinkable is happening, plus this phenomenon is empowered by pure and solid interest. Based on the article “Digital shift is food for thought” posted by Mal Dale in The Australian: Business on July 10, 2008, our successful future is based on this becoming a more universal practice. This means that interactive media is given full credit for its versatility in delivering the missing audiences, the engaging consumer experience, the forum for brands to connect and the cost-effective channel to market that it deserves.

He added that experience teaches people, they would generally have a broader appreciation of the potential of that medium for branding, Public Relations, communicating more complex messages, classifieds and so forth.

My train of thought suggests that, mutual understanding is developed via online participation and digital interactivity, thus this perchance generate cutting edge ideas and innovations toward a better world, and of course with individual benefits in resemblance.

Digital Media l Broadcasting

Australian media deals with government underfunding : :

Source: Channel News: Australia (News.smarthouse.com.au) 2008

Moving ahead, the fast-changing platforms of communication methods today forces the world to embark onto a new level in digital technology, including digital media broadcasting and resources. Undoubtedly, media holds the ‘power’ after the government and the authorities; the power to move people, to connect, contradict and to change.

Nonetheless, the power in public media broadcasting is currently confronts with the era of cyber world which requires innovation of content to fit into the digital media platform, thus, it is the cost that matters.

Based on the article “The minister and public broadcasting” posted by Antony Funnell of ABC Radio Channel on November 6, 2008, the Australian media faces a dilemma of ‘not catching-up’ due to current Australian economic downturn and the impact it might have on the likelihood of the SBS.

This caused the ABC and SBS to massively under-funded and cut back by the previous government. However, the new government of Australia claimed their commitment to public broadcasting, since the challenge of the borderless world is very serious, including broadcasting into the crossroads along the movement into the digitalised world.

Clearly, I think the ABC and SBS really need funding to meet those challenges. Based on research by comScore MediaMetrix in August 2008, the total number of Internet audience is 188.9 million worldwide. The number may have been increasing ever since, thus this demonstrate the power, seriousness and the essential of the Internet.

Obviously, the ABC and SBS need to stabilize its financial core and funding basis before stepping up onto the phase of digitalization.

The Blogging Phenomenon IV

New forms of media publishing : :

Chronologically to date, we have been familiar and probably a little too comfortable with traditional modes of media, precisely, through conventional print and broadcast. Nevertheless, the ambiance is seemingly to change with the massive wave of digital media, a global virtual realm.

Based on Thwaites et al. (1994) a genre is a grouping of texts which are similar in structure or subject matter.Apart from blog, the existence of blog sub-genres which are vlog (videolog), photolog, moblog (mobile blog) and alternative online newspaper have ‘electrocuted’ the psyche of our third generation, to face revolution that subliminally alters the way of life. YouTube, Qik and Digg It for example, the modern, exciting style of free video blogging that allow users and viewers to upload, play, rate, share and comment their videos.

Vlog is absolutely an amazing and a fresher way for people to communicate globally, with the blends of unlimited creativity, more interactive, safer and healthier within a spot.

Blogging phenomenon can be considered as a new gateway to freedom in promoting self-luminosity, a tool to express our opinion and stance without barriers and trepidation. Political parties in Malaysia have obviously made full use of this opportunity to publicise their campaign, especially from the opposition which advertised few videos emphasizing their propagandas and agendas.

The Blogging Phenomenon III

Differences of designing for online (blog) & print : :

Designs for online require more white space and white or light background, since the usage of dark background would merely cause the readers’ eye to ignore the text, and it is heavy for readers’ eye to read.

Short paragraphing with headings is required since web users have a much faster reading pace and generally have shorter attention spans (Nielsen, 1997). Descriptive words of hyperlinks, colour balance, inverted pyramid arrangements and image captions are also among the elements of online design principles.

On screen, it is difficult for readers to grasp the whole page due to portions are hidden, therefore, layout for online must be in vertical or horizontal rectangle orientation to viewers to scroll.

Nielsen (2006) also argued that online users generally follow an “F-shape” movement. For instance, cintaarjuna is a blog that best encapsulates web design principles and elements.

While in print, the design and layout must follow the types in hierarchy, texts are left-aligned and justified to follow the Z reading orientation. According to Wheildon (1990) they will follow a left-to-right, top-to-bottom direction known as reading gravity.

Other elements of design in print include columns, lines and balance, which create formality, unity, focal point and to communicate with readers’ emotion. This could be demonstrated by the pdf file link below.
