The Blogging Phenomenon I

Blogs as current phenomenon & benefits to the community : :

Blogging is no longer considered as a weapon to kill time amongst youth today, since the phenomenon of blogging throughout the world is spreading like wildfire. According to the latest research conducted by comScore MediaMetrix in August 2008, there are 77.7 million unique visitors in the US blogs, 41.0 million visited Facebook and 75.1 million visitors in MySpace. Those numbers tally up to 188.9 million, that is, the total number of Internet audience who participate in blog.

Most bloggers in Europe are likely to blog for their own leisure, and discuss topics about music and computers. They are less focused on monetization and not for the purpose of making money. In Asia, the trend appears to be quite similar, whereby most bloggers aged from 18-34 years old prefer to talk about music than politics. However, most Asian bloggers are keen into making profit via their blogs and they are savvier about blog monetization. Malaysian bloggers are mostly personal bloggers, who like to talk about personal things, giving out opinions and blog for fun.

Identity is no longer confidential, Malaysian bloggers love to communicate and participate within their community, whereby idea-sharing, forums, critiques, comments and suggestions is ordinary, when technology meets autonomy.
